Blue Hat's Key Takeaways from the Web Summit 2022
Professionally, #websummit is one of our all-time favorite events. It's a conference with over 70k attendees from different industries & countries coming together to discover how tech is disrupting several industries. And this year was no different, as it was as inspiring as ever! Here are our main takeaways from this year's summit:
1. NFTs & Tokenization
Digital assets will grow exponentially. William E. Quigley, a Crypto & Gaming entrepreneur, predicted that every physical product will have a digital twin. Such insight will unlock new possibilities in ownership, sharing, lending, community building, and digital experiences. Cryptocurrencies and NFTs give an overview of how people can exchange digital assets instantly, at no cost, and with proper validation of ownership and authenticity.

2- Brands & Green Washing
Overall trust in brands, governments, organizations, and even professionals is at an all-time low. Brands more than ever need to find a purpose (beyond selling products) and work towards it especially when it comes to sustainability. New legislation in the EU will force companies as of 2023 to publicly disclose information on the way they operate in order to avoid risks of #greenwashing and push for real action towards sustainability.

3. Web 3.0 & Decentralization
With Web 2.0, people were bound to the will of organizations, brands, and algorithms. With Web 3.0, the power will be given back to the people through decentralization. This trend will extend to social media. With Jack D.'s soon-to-be-launched BlueSky, we will hopefully witness #decentralized social networks where people can interact across multiple platforms. Decentralization is already happening on the Metaverse with avatars/user profiles that can be used on multiple Metaverse platforms & games.
