Design Lead

We’re looking for a hands-on Design Lead to join our team at Blue Hat. This role is ideal for someone who loves designing but also enjoys guiding and mentoring others. You’ll oversee designers, elevate the quality of their work, and personally take on key creative projects for major accounts.

This is a diverse role: 50% team guidance, 30% design execution, 20% creative direction and collaboration.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in digital design/content creation, preferably in an agency environment.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing social campaigns and creative content across digital platforms.

  • Experience with accounts in KSA is an advantage.

  • Mastery of design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva).

  • Leadership experience mentoring and inspiring cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to turn insights into compelling narratives for clients and internal teams, and fluency in both English and Arabic.

  • Organized, proactive, and able to balance hands-on work with team leadership.


Responsibilities

Team Oversight & Mentorship

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the digital marketing designers, reviewing and guiding designers’ work to ensure consistency, creativity, and alignment with brand guidelines.

  • Collaborate with Team head to balance workloads of designers, ensuring they are properly allocated based on strengths, deadlines, and project complexity.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior, mid-level, and senior designers, helping them sharpen both technical execution and conceptual thinking.

  • Conduct regular feedback sessions, workshops, and design reviews to foster continuous improvement and professional growth.

Design Execution

  • Own and execute 1–2 high-impact or high-visibility projects end-to-end — from concept to final delivery — handling the most complex and strategic design work independently.

  • Act as the lead designer and creative partner for assigned accounts, translating brand strategy into powerful visual outputs that consistently exceed client expectations.

  • Balance hands-on design work with creative direction — ensuring active involvement directly elevates the visual quality of all deliverables.

  • Design and refine a wide range of digital assets including social media content, paid ads, animations, email templates, and landing pages — maintaining pixel-perfect execution across platforms.

  • Leverage design tools to produce high-quality, on-brand visuals optimized for digital performance and storytelling.

Creative Direction

  • Define and drive the visual language and storytelling approach across all marketing design deliverables — including campaigns, editorials, moodboards, and social content — ensuring each output is strategically aligned and visually cohesive.

  • Collaborate with copywriters, performance marketers, and strategists to shape narratives that resonate with audiences across digital platforms.

  • Present creative concepts internally and to clients, articulating design rationale and ensuring alignment with campaign goals.

Quality Control

  • Implement a rigorous review and approval process for all creative outputs, safeguarding consistency in design, voice, and storytelling across digital touchpoints.

  • Ensure assets meet technical specifications, platform policies, and accessibility standards without compromising creativity.

  • Continuously audit and enhance the performance and visual impact of all accounts across platforms, ensuring progressive improvement in ad quality and engagement.

  • Anticipate potential issues (resolution, responsiveness, branding inconsistencies) and resolve them before delivery.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with branding, innovation, and performance marketing teams to integrate design seamlessly into broader campaign strategies.

  • Act as the bridge between creative and media, ensuring that design decisions are informed by performance insights and data-driven feedback.

  • Contribute to ideation sessions, sharing design-led perspectives that elevate campaign concepts and push boundaries.

Trends & Innovation

  • Stay ahead of global and regional design, digital marketing, and social media trends, with particular emphasis on the KSA and GCC markets.

  • Research and experiment with emerging tools and formats (motion graphics, AR/VR, generative AI, interactive design) to create fresh, impactful digital experiences.

  • Identify opportunities to add business value through impactful design deliverables, ensuring all creative outputs directly contribute to campaign performance, brand growth, and audience engagement.
